Bournemouth Championship Show 2012 Critique

I would like to thank Bournemouth Canine Association for inviting me to award CCs for the first time at their Championship Show and also to all the exhibitors who supported me with so many quality deerhounds. I felt very privileged to be judging at this show which was a pleasurable and enjoyable experience at the new venue.

DOGS

VD No entries

PD (2,1) 1. Peach’s Kilbourne Nico. Extremely well balanced 9 month old puppy with good bone. Handsome head and dark eye. Shapely outline with nice depth, good width throughout with low set hocks. Moved confidently and freely.

JD (3,0) 1. Peach’s Greyflax Taylor Made For Kilbourne. Nicely proportioned with strong bone. Good front assembly with nice depth of chest and and well constructed hindquarters. Excellent topline and good fall away. Well balanced which showed on movement. 2. Helps’ Beardswood Quinlan. Shapely, well boned young dog. Lovely masculine head with dark eye. Good depth and strong loin. Nice fall away and width of thigh. Harsh coat. Moved soundly with drive. 3. Codd’s Greyflax Over The Moon At Gazeawhile.

GD (2,0) 1. Codd’s Kilbourne Webster At Gazeawhile. Handsome dog with super dark eye, pleasing expression and neat ears. Broad forearms, plenty of depth of chest and well constructed hindquarters. Harsh coat. Moved well once settled. 2. Wilkinson’s Sireadh Chase. 2 year old light grey dog with masculine head and good bone. Correct shoulder placement, good depth of chest and width throughout. Nice fall away.

PGD (2,0) A close decision however preferred movement of winner on the day. 1. Wragg’s Neroche Irving. Well presented, harsh coated young dog with typical head and expression. Well proportioned with good shoulder and depth of chest. Low hocks. Well knuckled feet. Moved well with drive. 2. Codd’s Kilbourne Webster at Gazeawhile

LD (2,1) 1. Meer’s Kilbourne Harvey At Lordswell. Well balanced dog with good bone. Masculine head with strong neck leading into well constructed front assembly. Plenty of depth of chest. Excellent width across thigh with nice fall away and low set hocks. Moved well.

OD (4,1) 1. Peach’s Kilbourne Hector To Oelmuhle. An extremely well balanced, correctly proportioned dog with good bone. Handsome head. Strong neck leading into good lay of shoulder and strong quarters. Harsh coat. Moved freely and soundly. Well presented and handled. CC 2. Finnett & Heathcote’s Ch Hyndsight Dark Sky. Another handsome well boned dog. Good angulation throughout with plenty of depth of chest and heart room. Low hocks. Nice rise over loin and fall away. Moved freely and easily. RCC 3. Girling’s Ch Pyefleet Rollo.

BITCHES

VB (3,1) 1. Barret’s Stranwith Morag. Well presented, feminine 7 year old bitch. Gentle, wistful expression with dark eye. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders, great depth of chest and strong hindquarters. Sound movement. 2. Jarrett’s Ashtonbrook Juno Of Torrfric. 8 year old feminine bitch beautifully presented and shown in excellent condition. Lovely gentle and soft expression with dark eye. Good depth of chest. Harsh coat. Moved soundly and effortlessly.

PB (2,0) 1. Elle’s Kilbourne Unity. A very promising, elegant and feminine 11 month old puppy with beautiful head and dark eye. Nice depth of chest with balanced angulation. Harsh coat and good topline. Moved freely. BP 2. Davis’ Kilbourne Nimble. Well boned 9 month old puppy with pleasing feminine head, dark eye and neat ear. Nice depth throughout with good width across hips. Well knuckled feet. Moved soundly with confidence.

JB (3,0) A very strong class. 1. Bailey’s Greyflax Just Peachy. Promising, shapely, feminine young bitch with beautiful head and soft expression. Good reach of neck flowing into correct front assembly. Low set hocks. Well balanced which showed on the move. 2. Taylor & Peach’s Kilbourne Morgan Le Fay To Taylorpeche. Well boned young bitch with feminine head and neat ears. Strong neck with good depth of chest and width overall. Movement was sound with drive. 3. Helps’ Beardswood Quintessence.

GB (2,0) 1. Wilkinson’s Sireadh Charm. 2 year old bitch with pleasing feminine head and neat ear. Good width throughout with nice depth of chest. Neat feet. Moved well. 2. Barter & Christian’s Hyndsight Wind Dancer of Ehlaradawn. 2 year old bitch with gentle expression, neat ear and dark eye. Plenty of depth however preferred topline and hindquarters of winner.

PGB (4,0) 1. Girling’s Pyefleet Scrumpie. 2 year old well boned bitch with lovely harsh coat. Strong neck leading into correct shoulder placement. Nice width throughout. Well muscled, moving soundly and with drive. 2. Johnson’s Brackenland Waltz For Kilbourne. Feminine, 4 year old dark grey bitch with lovely head. Good lay of shoulder. Well angulated with excellent depth of chest. Good fall away. Harsh coat. 3. Barter & Christian’s Ehlaradawn Lady Fantasy

LB (5,1) Another very strong class. 1. Peach’s Kilbourne Teliah. This young bitch of excellent construction caught my eye immediately. Beautiful typical head with dark eye. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulder and good depth of chest. Strong hindquarters with low set hocks. Harsh coat. Well presented. Moved soundly. CC BOB 2. Taylor’s Kilbourne Baccarat To Ormanstar. Lovely well boned feminine bitch. Good reach of neck but not as much depth of chest as 1. Well angulated and good width of upper thigh. Moved well. 3. Barret’s Stranwith Ariadne

OB (6,2) 1. Finnett & Heathcote’s Ch Hyndsight Into The Mystic. Very feminine and shapely with dark eye. Strong neck flowing into correct front assembly. Excellent depth and width throughout with plenty of bone. Good bend of stifle. Moved soundly with drive. RCC 2. Helps’ Rosslyn Pippa Of Beardswood. Feminine, shapely, well balanced bitch with good bone. Lovely dark eye and strong neck. Plenty of depth of chest and strong hindquarters with low hocks. Harsh coat. Moved well. 3. Taylor & Peach’s Brackenland Tan At Kilbourne
